A very special "thank-you" and congratulations to John Rizzo and R & G Ventures for hosting the new Greg Cahlik Memorial trial. As we approach the one year anniversary of our dear friends passing, how nice to have honored Greg's memory with this event. And how appropriate that Karie and Jeff saw fit to join so very many of Greg's friends on this special day. John Rizzo, you did your friend, and ours, proud today. Me and my son,John, appreciate all of the hard work you put into this inaugural trial. Mission accomplished on Sperry Road!

Job well done to Columbia Game Club at the Gus Ferencak memorial, Del Shamp / Chuck Weber classic. Bird setting was great and we finally had decent weather. It was good seeing everyone. Congratulations to Dennis Collins and Colt with the open win and Dog of the day.

We invite everyone who plans on running the SCSA trial on Sunday the 16th to bring non-perishable food items for the Spencer Community Cupboard. Ron Davis'(aka Blackdogs) wife runs that food pantry. We plan on setting out a nice holiday buffet for our friends during the placements, and are asking for donations for the Spencer Community Cupboard to help our less fortunate neighbors. Hope to see everyone there!

Dennis. The young lady did a great job with Sampson to win the puppy class. Apologies would not be enough, but we at Coonhunters would like to do that profusely. There was a mistake made on our part, and since we did not receive the puppy first place award there was no trophy to give at that time. Please rest assured that we are working on taking care of it. As a matter of fact, we will pay for her next run at the December Coonhunters trial.

I am wondering if coon hunters are going to do the same thing like last trial.Have 12 year old pay and run her dog in trial and win puppy trial and did not get trrophy tried to give her derby second place ribbon.I thought kids who pay to run trials should be respected

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out yesterday for the Steve Johnson memorial. What a glorious God given Sunday afternoon! How much more fun than watching the Browns! Had 66 dogs entered in both pointing and flushing classes. Congrats to Larry Jennings and Bob Rinehart for their Dog of the Day wins. A very special shout out to Dr. Fred Wright and Matt Jackson for their assistance in helping to handle a medical emergency with a dog at the trial. It was greatly appreciated on behalf of SCSA. Also a special thanks to Dan Kaminski for having that emergency kit available! All handlers should appreciate the unselfish actions of Fred, Matt and Dan.

Looks like a cool weekend awaits those competing in the Steve Johnson Memorial at the South Cuyahoga Sportsmen's Assn. Had the opportunity to speak to Elaine Johnson, Steve's widow, along with both daughters at the SCSA Ox roast recently. They are very honored that we still recognize Steve with this event. Can you believe that this year will mark 20 years for this trial! First winners at that inaugural event were the late Bill Zipp with a spaniel,Joy and Steve Borecky with his shorthair,Sam. Judges at that very first Johnson were D'arcy Egan and Stanley Pryda. Elaine Johnson helped pass out the awards at SCSA that Sunday. Lots of fond memories with the club and bird dog people!

Thanks to all that participated and or assisted with the first hunters trial of the season. The Youth Hunters did a great job with their dogs and followed the safety practices without fail. The bird setters did a fantatistic job in getting the birds down and moving the trial along. The club grounds looked really nice, thanks to the members, especially Art Jones, Earl, John Rizzo and his buddy whose name escapes me at this time, but you know who you are. It was nice to see that lots of puppies were entered that worked the field like pros. The judges had a tough time picking the placing dogs from those that ran, since it seemed that they all should have been able to earn a placement. Congratulations to those that placed today. We are looking forward seeing you at the next trial. Please let a clubmember know if there is anything we can at Cuyahoga Coon Hunters to make your visit with us more enjoyable. Thanks again. Bert

Thank you to all of you that attended and or assisted with the first Hunters Trial of the season at Cuyahoga Coon Hunters today. What a great way to start of the season. Lots of puppies competed today, and the placements were tough to decide on. Lots of really good pups to choose from, which makes the jodge's decision tough. Thanks again. Bert
